Back in the beginning of time, I remember trying to wake my sister up at 3 am. to go to a dog show, after many words were thrown back and forth at each other, we eventuality ended up in the 240Z headed down the road in the pouring down rain with two dogs in the back, stereo blasting and singing to the tune of "On The Road Again, just can't wait to get on the road again" ---- Which many years later she gave the name to one of her dogs in rememberance of those good times. I can't think of happier times, even tho sometimes then, it seemed they weren't. But this is how we started out. We didn't have much, just a lot of determination.

Funny looking back at the litters we bred, the puppies and dogs we were showing, thinking they were just perferctly wonderful. We look at pictures of them now and go eck ! Amazing how your taste can change. They just had to have a ton of white. But something had to be right as we were always in the ribbons. So that only ment to us that we had to work harder, more dog shows, more 3 AM. awakenings to get to that show, that maybe the big handlers didn't know of or care about. Hours of reading and comparing pedigrees, and by golly all the planning paid off, with my first champion, Vagabond's Brown Sugar, handled by Gary Steele, she finished in two weekends ! Incidentally, that 3 AM ride in the pouring down rain, listening to "On The Road again", was to take my new Ch. to her first entry in BOB. So you bet little sis was going to get her butt out of bed. Despite the handlers and pouring down rain, little sis and my new Champion were awarded BOB. And the other soaking wet dog in the back was Brown Sugar's brother, that went RWD. Needless to say we flew home that day.

Finding the perfect sire for Brown Sugar wasn't hard at all. I just couldn't keep my eyes off Ch.Merrilane's Knockout. That mating produced Ch.Vagabond's Chocolate Chip, which I was forced to sell to my sister, due to a job change for my husband, that ment moving from CA to MI and the beginning of Jubri Boxers.

Once there it didn't take me long to join the Michigan Boxer Club, and purchase a young hopeful from Joan Johnson of Jodi Boxers. Jodie's Irish Rose of Jubri, with a list of enough champions behind her to choke a horse, she just wasn't going to follow in her ancestors footsteps. So after a brief love affair with Camelaird's Crimson Knight, Jubri's String of Pearls was born. Pearl took her first points from the 9-12 puppy class and never looked back. Norman Herbel thought it was love at first site when he awarded her winners and BOW, for her first major from the 12-18 mo. class, after a big kiss from Pearl. She compleated her Championship shortly after, including several BOS wins, from the classes.

In the midst of all this, little sis insisted that I come back to CA to purchase a greatgreat granddaughter of my Champion dam that started it all. Which sent me back to the drawing board. However her daughter, Jubri's Ruby Tuesday was bred to Ch.Jodi's Donneybrook , producing Jubri's Changing Seasons who is currently being shown at this time. I also brought with me, Ch.Vagabond's Ring of Fire, a multiple BOB winner, nephew of Ch.Vagabond's Brown Sugar. Ring of Fire ( fondly known as John ) was a dog that was considered as having substance and elegance at the same time, combined with a driving movement that made him hard to keep up with. One of his ladies in waiting, Lady Makala of Milford, produced a son resembling John to a tee. Shown by Medley Small it didn't take Perfect Patton Pending long to attain his Canadian championship.

I hope you enjoy your tour, please sign my guestbook.
